Releaving The Life Of Rural Tourism In Punjab

INDIA is the cradle of human race,
The birthplace place of human speech,
The mother of history,
The grandmother of legends and
The great grandmother of traditions.
Our most valuable and constructive material in the history of human are treasured up in INDIA only.

One's destination is never a place' but a new way to seeing things. Me and my friends(Monu, Manish, Anushka, Rajat, Anand, Ravi and Vasundra) were on the roads of Punjab to explore and experience the joy of destinations in Rural Tourism as a part of our class assignment given by Dr. Madhumita Mukherjee. We the students of Lovely Professional University pursuing MBA(Tourism and Hospitality) have visited the place Rahon. Rahon is a village in the district of Nawashahr. On the way to Rahon we were able see some attractions of the heritage museum of India Like Virasat-e-Khalsa unique in its culture and history of Sikh. Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum(Khatkar Kalan), Ancestral house of Bhagat Singh.

The journey started for the main gate of LPU in the early morning. The destination was about 54km away from our campus. The importance of rural tourism is the development of the rural areas. Rural Tourism means sustainability by creating the jobs which are required in declining the rural area and reviving traditional customs.

Inside the Museum

Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum has been constructed to pay homage to great revolutionary martyrs of the Punjab, who laid down their lives for liberation of motherland. The museum was inaugurated on the 50th martyrdom anniversary of the great Martyr Sardar Bhagat Singh at Khattar Kalan on Nawanshahr - Banga road.
The museum displays he memorable belongings of the revolutionary martyrs of the Punjab. The half burnt ashes of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev including the bold soaked sand and blood staines newspaper in which the ashes were wrapped and are preserved to exhibit.

Family members that we met at Rahon

Shubham's family members were very happy to share about their village and livelihood of the people and how they were migrated from Phagwara to Rahon, but basically their ancestors used to live in Lahore and parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The occupation of their village is mostly cultivation and dairy farm. Yes, it was a great pleasure for us to meet them and experience the hospitality of Punjab culture with tasty Lasi and Tea of Punjab.

Into the paddy fields
Migrations from Bihar for their livelihood in Punjab

Rahon is a rural area in the district of Nawanshahr covered with the paddy fields and hardly to see the houses. The livelihood of the people in Rahon is cultivation and dairy farming. The migrants from different parts of India are living in Raho by working in the fields of Sardars. The people does not even have the basic facilities like proper shelter and sanitation which is most important. Poor connection of electricity and LPG's to cook the food. The children of the migrants does not have schooling facility for their primary education. The government has to take the steps to improve and promote the rural tourism.
The family members and the neighbour that we met at Raho were very co-operatative and supportive with us in providing the information about the area and served us with Lasi and Punjabi Tea.

Glory of Ancestral House

The ancestral house of Shaheed Bhagat Singh is in the village just a km away from the Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum. The old house and new things are preserved. The doors are locked by glass door and we can see the inside articles displays through the glass. They were display of personal things used by Bhagt Singh in their personal life and photographs.
The glory of the garden and beautifying water fountain were neatly maintained by the workers. A numerous scenic spots to capture the pictures in the ancestral house.

Longest bridge way to Virasat on Satluj River

The Rahon - Mattewara, longest bridge in Punjab having 1.5km stretch  across Satluj at war level. The bridge cut down the distance by 19km between Nawanshahr and Ludiana. It is the dream of the Doaba region to connect them with Malawa region by a shortest distance.

The Virasat-E-Khalsa is the rich heritage museum of our country. It depicts the pictures and paintings of the sikh religion and culture practiced. It is located in the holy town of Anandpur Shabib. One of the most underrated but undoubtedly most enriching museum which I have ever seen. The designers and the creators of the museum has made tremendous efforts to make this place a true reflection of Punjab's legacy. The museum is a technological marvel of visual masterpiece.

Varieties of food for lunch

The Punjab is famous for its varied range of dishes with exotic menu in  Punjabi Dhabas with Punjabi folk dances. The most popular food is Sarson-da-Saag with Makki Roti. Most of the Punjabi people prefer to eat wheat food.
